Where did AN9 come from?
“It’s all rooted from the pronounciation of Angel with a heavy Chinese accent. I remember first landing in Toronto as an immigrant and my mother would tell everyone that my name was Angel but she pronounced it as ann-geo. This pronounciation stuck to me as it is the most prominent moment in which I began a new journey in life. It was later corrected but I have always pronounced it this way when communicating with my Chinese friends and family. It then became a nickname everyone would call me and I had created a Chinese verbal translation of this word “安九” (an jiu), the word translate to many things but one being “safe 9”. A play on words but also tightly in touch with my identity and has become what I believe is the best representative for my brand.” — Angel Guo
